Foliage
Foliage, bulbs and flowers I love for Winter:
Winter arrangements are all about the foliage, and lucky you - that is very on trend for flowers right now. I love a big display of holiday foliage and keep one on my dining table all of December.
Traditional Holiday Foliage: I love princess pine and all the firs, but for personal flowers and hand work I love cedar - it lays flat and doesn’t smell too strong. But my favorite is Magnolia - I love the copper back and the shine of the dark foliage.
A little more edgy: I love to bring in some burgundy foliage - cotinas, nandina and agonis,
Don’t forget about texture: snowberry, pepperberry, cones and pods. There is a great shrub here called pyracantha - looks like holly but wild with berries!
Lets go wild: We spray some stuff silver and gold - it’s festive!
Bulbs
Bulb flowers are in their prime at this time of year - callas, tulips, narcissis, and paperwhites all shine for winter but I especially love hyacinth.
For a true show stopper I love amaryllis. They come in glam colors fall beyond the red and white that you always see.
Flowers
Some of the special seasonal flowers for winter include: astilbe, astrantia, euforbia, helleborus, lavender, veronica and phlox.
