Why We Love Felicity Church: Gallery and More!

The first time I went to Felicity Church, it was not for a wedding. The space had not yet been renovated - and there was an incredible art exhibit by photographer Frank Relle. I felt like a true New Orleanian as I walked through these incredible images of the bayou and Louisiana. There were great people in the room there with me— only art can pull together such a fabulous cross section of humanity along with wine in paper cups.

All I could think as I wandered around was “WOW. I totally need to do a photo shoot here, this place is amazing!”

As I explored the art and wandered the building I found that this was the last exhibit taking place, that the building was about to be renovated. I was crushed! all that patina and charactor - sanded, painted - lost!

That was of course before I met Chris and Jessica Jones. My fear was totally unfounded because they are true stewards of this building. They had seen its true soul from the very begining. Since that day 7 or 8 years ago, they have repaired, cleaned and polished, leaving the perfect patina behind. Not only did they create a fabulous venue that works wonderfully, they saved a piece of history. They are the heroes of this story, and a delight to work with.

Felicity is a great backdrop for adventurous brides, and adventurous styles. The architectural style of Felicity Church is Gothic Revival. You’ll notice large, vaulted windows at pretty much every place you could fit one, and deep wood tones on the pews, altar pieces, and handrails, that have darkened even further over time. It is a wonderful place to go bold in color - if you dare!
