Need a new binge? Fat Cat goes to Hollywood / New Orleans - Again!

How did a wallflower like me get involved in the movie biz?

It started years ago when my neighbor Tim Cohn was working on a TV Series based in New Orleans called The Big Easy. Tim would call— wanting things like ten funeral sprays to be delivered to Cemetery No. 4 (you know, the one across from Commander’s) at 5am, or a centerpiece for a big spender’s lunch, or a hotel lobby glow-up. In those days, Tim paid cash (go Tim!), and sometimes our sidewalk transactions looked a bit more sketchy than your typical flower sale does. The Big Easy only lasted two seasons, but it was a great introduction to the local TV and Movie production market, and we’ve been hooked ever since!

Since then we have work on lots of New Orleans productions (some more memorable than others) but we don’t discriminate.

I may never get to meet Keanu Reeves – he was no-where to be seen when we delivered flowers to an obsure park on the Westbank at 5am (trust me, I looked). He has stood on stage with my flowers though! And there’s definitely some satisfaction in that. When floral rock star Preston Bailey need a New Orleans florist to assist in the production of Serena Williams wedding – we were delighted to help! The big, fat, bodacious, Fat Cat Mobile even even made it onto Entertainment Tonight. NCIS filmed a drive by shooting where the flowers exploded! And we got to make those flowers over and over (and over and over and over . . .)

I bring this up now because Showtime is about to launch Your Honor, and it has been a blast to work on. One of my favorite designers Selina VandenBrink sends me inspiration, and then we get to work bringing it to life.  You won’t believe how they can transform a hotel. Watch the trailer for Your Honor here

Wonder what else we’ve done for fun?

Green Book (won an Academy Award! That makes me an academy award winning florist - right?)

NCIS New Orleans - too many episodes to list!

Filthy Rich

Claws

American Horror Story

Bill and Ted Face the Music

Hot Tub Time Machine 2

Jonah Hex

Glory Road

And also a horror movie that shot at a church on St Charles and the Audubon Zoo. But may or may not have ever been released? I can’t find a trace of it anywhere! Spooky.

We want to be a part of your movie, even if it is reels! If you’re looking for special event flowers, call us at (504) 486-8580. We’re happy to do anything and everything extra special just for you. I might even deliver to a Cemetery in the dark of night.
